Countries in the region over the years have managed to increase exports compared to import.
According to data from the Kosovo Statistics Agency, in 2018, it imported goods worth 3.347m euros and exported 367.5m euros.
That was between 2015 and 2018, import growth has been 712,307m euros, while export growth during this period has been 43,206m euros.
Comparing export data for Kosovo goods during 2018 to that of 2017, the figures show we have an annual decline of (2.8%), a decline where Kosovo continues to have its negative trade balance.

Kosovo Statistics Agency (ASK) has also released data related to export and import flows for September of this year, which points to a higher trade deficit for 0.1% in September 2019, in proportion to the same period of 2018, worth 257.3m euros, compared to the deficit of 257.1m euros in 2018.
According to the AKS in September, export covers import at 13.0%. Exporting goods in September 2019 was worth 38.4m euros, while importing 295.7m euros, which is an increase of 4.7% per export, and an increase of 0.6% per import, compared to the same period in 2018.
