Kosovo 57th in the World for Business

The Ministry of Trade and Industry has announced that the World Bank's Doing Business 2020 report, published today, confirms Kosovo's gradual and sustainable progress towards establishing a favourable business climate and attracting investments in our country. Special Progress has been marked in the field of protection [...]
The particular progress has been noted in the area of protecting small investors, handling construction permits, securing electricity and implementing contracts due to approval of the new law on mediation.
According to the MTI, progress in these areas has led Kosovo to be recognised by the World Bank as one of the 20 most reformed states in the 2020 Doing Business Report.
Although, in the 2020 report, Kosovo has noted a rate drop in rank 57 (from 44th position as it was in 2019), the ranking gap between these two years is not fully comparable due to methodological changes and data change, which has been retroactively made by the World Bank for several years.
The progress made by Kosovo is Muslims from reviewing data from the report showing that Kosovo has marked an improvement of plus (+) 2.2 % in the ease of doing business and there has been progress in 7 indicators of 10 out of total.
As far as two indicators are being monitored directly by the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Indicators of a Business and Small Investors Protection have improved by 0.2% in the case of starting a business, while for the Protection of Small Investors there has been improvement for 8%.
As already noted, the ranking changes from 2019 to 2020 are not completely comparable because of the methodological changes made by the World Bank, which especially affect the indicator of the Small Investors' Protection.
Otherwise, the Doing Business 2020 report estimates the ease of doing business in 190 countries.
