Hong Kong officially withdraws draft law on extradition

The security minister in the government of China's special Hong Kong administrative region, John Lee, has announced that they have officially withdrawn the bill envisioning extraditions to China, the special Makao region and Taiwan, of persons convicted or against whom there are charges in Hong Kong. <x0)
“I do not think the draft has officially been withdrawn from”, Lee said in a statement in the Parliament General Legal Assembly.
For the bill that has sparked massive protests, which continue since June, the opposition has voiced objections that this would undermine the autonomous structure of Hong Kong government and that it would lead the independent judiciary under China's leadership.
An extradition agreement cannot be signed between Hong Kong and Taiwan because China, which Hong Kong is associated with, does not recognise Taiwan's sovereignty. /Attish
