An 18-year-old protester was shot by security forces.
Protesters, some equipped with gas bombs and other missiles clashed with police in parts of Hong Kong.
About 104 people were taken to the hospital, and 180 others were arrested.
Police chief Stephen Lo said 25 police members were injured.
In Hong Kong tensions have escalated for months.
Four months ago, mass protests were prompted by proposed changes to an extradition bill. Although the bill has been withdrawn, the riots have continued, expanding with demands for a broader democracy.
More than 1,300 people have been arrested since the protests started.
Hong Kong works according to organization, “one state, two” systems.
