EU Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn and European Union High Representative Federica Moghrini have reacted to the process of extraordinary elections held Sunday in Kosovo.
Hahni and Mogheri have named elections as peaceful, from which they have called for the new government to be formed as soon as possible.
Peaceful elections took place on 6 October in Kosovo. The EU requires the quickest formation of the new government, as all legal procedures end. This is important in order for Kosovo to continue working on economic and social reforms, rule of law, as well as Kosovo-Serbia dialogue”, the joint statement said.
Hahni and Moghrin expect political actors to remain committed to these processes, which they say are key to Kosovo's progress on the European road.
Hahni and Moghrin stress the importance of the EU mission in Kosovo during these elections.
“After the EU mission, the elections were well managed and transparent. The campaign was challenging in Kosovo, but some irregularities were highlighted in Serb residential countries with”, said the communique.
Moghrin and Hahni have indicated that the EU will formulate reports with recommendations for elections to be held in the future in Kosovo.
The EU, according to the issued communiqué, is ready to assist in the process.
