The two men were arrested in the capital, Berlin, and in the southern state of Baden-Wurttemberg in February, in an operation co-ordinated by German and French police.
One of the men, named Anwar R, has been charged with 59 cases of murder, as well as rape and other sexual charges. The second, Eyaad A, was charged with helping in crimes against humanity, Periscopi was announced on Tuesday, Periscopi conveyed.
Both men entered Germany as asylum seekers in July 2014 and in August 2018, respectively.
German authorities have taken these cases under the legal principle of universal jurisdiction, allowing persecution of crime from one country even if they occur in another country.
Consistent evidence was collected against two men as a result of an exhibition called “Caesar's photos at the UN headquarters in New York. /Periscope
