The Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) has invited Albania and Northern Macedonia to join this group. The call was made by Russia's EU Permanent Representative, Vladimir Chizhov, during the Eurasian Economic Forum in Verona, Italy on Friday.
“Albania and Northern Macedonia will find consensus more quickly in the EU than in the EU”, the Russian diplomat stressed.
Chizhov said, “I am sure that the countries, which are candidates for EU membership and recently there are” placed on ice “from Brussels “can have more benefits at the EU”.
Russia's invitation to Balkan countries to join the EU comes just days after a negative decision by French President Emmanuel Macron.
Belarus, meanwhile, is the only European country to participate in the EU.
