“We regret to understand that the Kosovo Agency for Accreditation (AKA) has failed in efforts to renegotiate membership in the European Association for the Security of Quality at Higher Education (ENQA)”.
The organisation's “being a member was not only a major achievement for Kosovo institutions, but also very important to facilitate the mobileity for Kosovo's qualified students and youth. The suspension of membership is a reverse and direct consequence of poor policies in the past, such as the Government's decision in September 2017 to dismiss the entire Agency Board without proper reasoning”
“SEEC has listed factors that led to their decision. It's depressing to see that most of them can be addressed by the government's political will to provide the Agency and its necessary resources to”.
The next “government must immediately address all issues along with the AKA and ensure that after two years, when Kosovo again has the right to apply for membership, Kosovo successfully regains its country in two European institutions for quality in higher education. More importantly, the new government should not repeat past mistakes”.
We encourage the AKA Board to address the ENQA recommendations and continue efforts to provide quality in institutions of higher education. The European Union will always be willing to help this process”.
