EU makes decision on series Brex extension

Instead of rushing, the European Union will briefly postpone its final decision on British Prime Minister Boris Johnson's request for the series of Brex delays, unnamed European diplomats said after today's 15-minute meeting. The British Parliament refused to vote Saturday on Johnson's new Brex agreement, prompting it to seek a third postponement for the country's EU exit.
So far, Britain was scheduled to leave the EU on October 31st. At the rare weekly meeting of ambassadors of the 27 member states, it was decided that the agreement with Johnson would be submitted to the European Parliament for approval.
The European Parliament will meet in Strasbourg next week.
“We are waiting to see how things are going by the end of the week, hoping that by then we will see how things are going in London,” said a senior European diplomat.
Another diplomat said the meeting was brief, without question and discussion.
“Waiting,” he added.
European Council President Donald Tusk said yesterday he had received a request for postponement and would consult European capitals on how to respond.
EU leaders do not want Britain's irregular departure from the EU and are unlikely to refuse the request, Reuters broadcast.
