Brnabyq: Kurti statements for reciprocity, warning of CEFTA violations

Serbia's prime minister, Anna Brnabiq, has said that Vetevendosje leader Albin Kurti's stance on a full economic, political and trade reciprocity with Serbia instead of the 100 per cent tax is clear warning for continuing violation of the free trade agreement in Central Europe (CEFTA). “If they act on [...]
“If they act on warnings, whether they remove the tax 100 percent or not, this is still a violation of the CEFTA agreement. Nothing will change much, they continue to be the parties that violate CEFTA as well as the Stabilisation and Association Agreement they have with the EU. I hope they will think about it again, because I don't know where this will send all of this”, said Prime Minister Brnabiq, when asked by Radio Free Europe to comment Kurt's statements on the reciprocity issue.
On October 10th, in an interview for Radio Free Europe, Vetevendosje Chairman Albin Kurti said that “we are not only ready but also interested in replacing the fee 100 per cent with full reciprocity with Serbia in line with the Kosovo Assembly Resolution of December 7th 2011”.
The Kosovo government had imposed a 100 per cent tax on Serbian and Bosnian goods in November 2018.
This was done in response to the Serbian authorities' campaign to undermine Kosovo's membership in international organisations.
Later, Serbia suspended talks on normalising reports with Kosovo brokered by the European Union.
Tax removal has also been requested by the European Union and the United States. / REL
