Lieutenant General Scott Howell, from Cadiz, Kentucky, has been entrusted to help plan and lead the dramatic raid to kill al-Bagdad in Syria on Saturday night.
Al-Baghdad blew himself up after being surrounded by American forces while in a tunnel inside his complex in Syria.
Kentucky Congressman James Comer praised Lieutenant General Howell on Sunday for leading the mission.
