A senior US delegation is facing huge duty to pressure Turkey to stop its offensive in northern Syria or face serious economic sanctions.
Donald Trump earlier declared that his country had no share in protecting Kurdish warriors who were killed helping American partners fight against I SIS, writes The Guardian, follows Periscope.
Vice President Mike Pence is leading the delegation to Ankara, along with Secretary of State Mike Pompeii. They are expected to meet with Turkish President Erdogan about 2.30 in Turkey's time.
On Wednesday Trump defended his decision to withdraw American troops from Syria, thus paving the way for the Turkish offensive against Kurdish forces.
Today, a controversial letter was issued that President Trump had sent to President Erdogan regarding developments, threatening to destroy the economy if he crossed borders.
Furthermore, Erdogan declared days ago that he would not meet with Pence and Pompeii, but that he had changed his stance yesterday. /Periscope
