Jethlir Tower, who has gone to the U.S. children, is running for the third term at the municipal council in Waterbury City, while Visar Tasim, born in America for the town of Naugauk in the state of Connecticut.
Waterbury, the fifth largest city in Connecticut, is the centre of Albanians where more than 10,000 people live in the population city of 110,000.
I'm proud to be part of a group of councilors who, along with the mayor, have made many developments in our city. Over 3,000 new jobs have been created, 10 different projects have been completed for modernisation and construction of local schools. And also over $13 million have been invested in the last seven years for parks all around. But there's even more work to do, so I want to run so that we can still walk ahead of”, said the Jetler Tower.
While Visar Tasim is running for the municipal council in Naugauk, the nearby town of Waterbury, which has 30,000 inhabitants. He says he has set up candidacy because he thinks there should be a youth turnout in the local government.
The tax is also a member of the Diaspora Co-ordination Council near the Tirana government.
Integrated into the United States and besides the professions they practice, the two young people are also engaged in politics. But what does that mean for the Albanian community in the US?
I first want to say that it was a great pride for me to be elected to the municipal council as the first Albanian in the state of Connecticut, and I am also very proud that Visari has issued the candidacy. In the town of Watebury it is thought to have more than 10,000 Albanians, so I think it is very important to be a voice to all Albanians in the area, says Jetlir Tower.
While Visar Tasim considers it necessary for the Albanian community to have representation in government bodies.
“Naugatuck does not have as many Albanians as Waterbury, but the impact is very obvious. With businesses of great students at school and many others, I believe that Jethlir's candidacy and mine pave the way for other Albanians to run higher”, he says. /tch
