Kosovo Statistics Agency (ASK) published health statistics for 2018, under which the death toll from infectious diseases was 63, where the largest death toll was from Sepsis disease with a total of 21 persons, or 33.3%.
According to the AKS, this publication provides data on the total number of employees in gender-based public health institutions, their educational level, the data on persons licensed to conduct health activities in state or private institutions in the Republic of Kosovo.
Also, this publication provides information on the activities of the University Clinical Centre of Kosovo (QKUK), general hospital activities, visits to the main Centres of Family Medicine, licensed private institutions, pre-clinic services, TB patients, infectious diseases, etc.
After the results released from this publication, it turns out that the total number of public sector health employees, in 2018, was 13 180 people, 3 486 persons were medical doctors, 8 226 nurses and 1 468 non-medical staff. The total number of services offered by the Family Medicine Centers was 1,215 001 services, of which: There were 4 136 388 visits in family medicine; in dentistry there were 683 133 visits; in the labs there were 2 665 980 services; and in special interventions and services there were 4,582 422 sosh. In general hospitals there were 381 340 days of healing with 84 222 patients who were laid out, where 1876 patients were operated. Also, 825 381 ambulance visits have been carried out, while laboratory services (parameters) have been performed in 571 836. During 2018, 465 488 days of healing for 791 patients at the University Clinical Center have been operating. Also, some 352 377 diagnostic visits to patients have been conducted; 515 033 visits have been made; 2 930 787 laboratory services and 551 036 special services. Kosovo University Stomatology Centre (QKSUK) has implemented 330 522 dentist services in total, out of them around 51829 controlling visits; 81757 patients' services outside Pristina, etc”, said in the AK communiqué.
The number of cases identified and treated with mountain and joint diseases, according to the AKS, in 2018, was 2475 cases, while the largest number of malignant and male disease victims belonged to the 60-64 age group, with a total of 392 cases, or said 15.9%.
“The number of dialies realised during 2018, in all public hospitals in Kosovo, was 124 446 cases. The number of services from professional mental health centres, however, was 352 380. The number of TB people had 702 cases, of which 338 were female and 364 males. The death toll from infectious diseases was 63, with the largest death toll from Sepsis with a total of 21 persons, or 33.3%. On the basis of Kosovo health professionals' activities, there are 19 241 licensed health workers, of whom 13 441 are women and 5 800 are male. The number of licensed private health institutions has reached 1 592, of them 27 hospitals and 1565 other health institutions, such as ambulances, polylicins etc. ”, is said in the communiqué.
In the meantime, out of a total of 192 licensed private health institutions, the largest number make up the dentistic ambulances by 418, or 26.25%, of the total number of licensed private institutions.
