Michel himself has said he is doing this for personal and professional reasons and that February 15th will be his last working day on the job.
Mitchell had formerly been president and CEO of the Centre for European Political Analysis.
He is from Texas and speaks German, the cause of his background.
In 2012, he worked at the presidential campaign of last Republican candidate.
