The northeastern state of Vermont, the US, drew considerable attention last year when it announced it would start paying workers from other countries to move there.
At the time, there were little details about it, but on January 1st the Foreign Workers Grants Programme was officially opened.
Applicants who are employed outside Vermont and moved there after January 1, 2019, can apply for grants (finance aid) to 5,000 dollars to cover their shift spending or labour-related spending.
There is no deadline: Grants will serve until the $12,000 set aside for the program. A state spokesman said.
The total start of the programme was initially $10,000. However, successful 2019 beneficiaries will have to apply for financing in 2020. Vermont is not the only country that can consider foreign workers looking for a new home for this new year.
The town of Tulsa, Oklahoma, is offering $10,000 in cash ready, as well as many other benefits to lure the new labour force, but also the future taxpayers.
