Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko announced she will run in the country's presidential race in the March elections.
Tymoshenko, who has governed Ukraine from 2005 to 2010, accuses the current leadership as responsible for low wages and prolonging the conflict in the country's east.
She described Ukraine as the poorest country in Europe and one of the most corrupt in the world.
Recent polls place Tymoshenco before current President Petro Porosenko.
Yulia Tymoshenko also ran for president in 2010 but lost to her rival Victor Yanukovic, who left the post following mass protests demanding closer ties to the West.
While Janukov was in power, Yulia Tymoshenko was sentenced to seven years in prison for corruption.
