Trump: I fired Mattis, he was nothing lately.

US President Donald Trump once again dismissed his position that there is no sympathy for former US Defence Secretary Jim Mattis and that there is no love lost among them after the latter's resignation reports Periscope. At a meeting with members of his Cabinet, Trump boasted he had actually fired Mattis, moving the four-star general's departure date for two months.

He criticised his former Pentagon chief for inadequacy, as he describes him as ending the involvement of the USA in armed conflicts in the Middle East, writes Politico, broadcast Periscopi.

In particular, he mentioned Mattisi's record in Afghanistan, but again received credit when he said he forced him to significantly reduce the presence of American troops there.

“What did he do for me?”, ask Trump. “How did he do in Afghanistan? Not very good. I'm not happy with what he did in Afghanistan and I shouldn't be happy. But he was very happy”

Mattis had declared his resignation, a day after Trump's statement that he was planning to withdraw US troops from war-torn Syria, arguing that they had defeated the Islamic State and that besides the United States, ISIS must be fought by other countries in the region as well.

After failing to persuade Trump for failing to withdraw American military troops from Syria, Mattis had offered his resignation, as he did not agree with this American president's move.

Initially, on a Twitter release, Trump had praised Mattis, whose retirement had promised he would distinguish from others, but who was initially responsible for marking an extraordinary progress towards Trump's goals during his two-year tenure in his cabinet as part of the Government.

But this attitude of the American president towards Mattis had radically changed, following his letter, in which he had highlighted the major differences in government with President Trump, who had left him guilty of straining US Allied reports.

In a tweet he did later on Twitter, Trump had announced that Mattis would leave the administration as early as the beginning of the year, and that he would not expect 28 February.

He even boasted about giving Mattis a second chance in Government, following the illegal dismissal that he said he had done to former US president Barack Obama.

Obama had appointed Mattis in 2013 to head the US Central Command because of his harsh stand on Iran.

“As you know. As Obama Mattiss dismissed, I did the same as I did”, Trump told members of his Cabinet.

Until Trump wanted a good pension, Mattis had given his duty to US Deputy Secretary of Defense Patrick Chanhan. / PERISCOP
