Mursel Zymber, chairman of the civil servants union at “Express Intervist” on KTV, has warned that there will be an hour-long civil servants' strike tomorrow, while adding that there are reflections of the government expected to meet the requirements.
Civil servants today have held an hour-long strike and have had two demands: increasing the wage cofficiency in the 40 percent wage bill for the value of the cofficient and recognition of the status of former civil servants dismissed violently during the years of yet90.
We've had a government reflection on our request. The moment the government accepts our two demands [will stop the strike]. Without a government response we cannot stop the strike. Based on [the government's] reflections, we hope to reach an agreement. The strike will continue tomorrow, to wait for the completion of the” agreement, Murseli said.
According to him, civil service has been put aside by every government. Taking the example of raising salaries in education and health, Murseli has said civil servants should be treated equally with other sectors in Kosovo.
There were 50 percent in education, 40 percent in medicine, and in civil service 30 percent. The only deal was that of an extra-payer. There we agreed that all civil servants need food, so we had linear separation, even now that the state budget is divided, we say it should be equal”, Murseli said.
Mursel pointed out that 22 thousand civil servants have 1.15 cofficiency, which he called ridiculous.
If there's going to be 40 percent, we don't separate from them. Even though we have lower base than the other sectors. This is about dignity. Everyone should be treated equal to”, Murseli said.
If total strikes are introduced into civilian service, we will have state paralysis because the civil servant is the main worker of this state. Civil servants are in medicine, in education, in the Kosovo Assembly”, there are others. /Time.net
