117 immigrants result missing off the Libyan coast. Their boat, launched by Tripoli, sank just a few miles into the open sea.
There were 120 people aboard it, including women and children. Only three survived. They were rescued from the Italian coast guard and confessed the tragedy as soon as they arrived at the port of Lampedusa.
According to the testimony of the survivors, their boat received water after more than 11 hours at sea. Italian and Libyan authorities launched research operations for the drowning troops, but none of them were found.
Following the event was Italian Interior Minister Mateo Salvin, who again accused European countries of successive tragedies occurring in Mediterranean waters. As long as European ports remain open, as long as there is someone who continues to help traffickers, unfortunately, the scantists will continue to do business and kill”, Salvin said.
Since coming to power, the interior minister has exercised a tough policy ordering the closure of Italian ports.
Salvin accuses European countries of abandoning Italy and Spain in fighting their immigrant crisis and illegal trafficking
