Representatives of students from all Kosovo public universities have warned protests 16 January in front of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MASHT) about party employment at the institution, as well as political appointments in public university management councils.
At a media conference before the Student Centre, Diar Statovci of the Independent Group of Students of the University of Pristina has said that unless party militants leave, students will not stop with protests, Koha Ditore reports.
He has announced that recent days have been invited to the meeting by Deputy Prime Minister Fatmir Limaj's cabinet to listen to their demands, but that student representatives have not accepted meetings until their demands are met.
“protests will not stop until our requests are met. We have tried to discuss with Minister Bytyqi and have warned that the appointment of party militants within the Ministry and universities is politicising them. We have expected that he will depoliticise these institutions, but since he has not reflected we have been forced to hold protests”, he stressed.
According to Statovci, their next concern is poor conditions at the University of Pristina, as well as at the Students Centre. /Periscopi
