Searching for the “Red Apple”: A session set for Prizren

On January 9th, at the Prizren Foundation Court, and on January 17th at the Office of the Prosecutor Specialised in The Hague.

This would have to be the agenda of former KLA soldier Remzi Shala, known as commander “Red Mola”, but who, with accepting the invitation to appear in The Hague, indicated he does not intend to go with the reasoning that he does not recognise this institution, KTV reports.

To Shala, there is an indictment for war crimes by the Special Prosecutor at the Prizren Foundation Court, where he is accused of being involved in the kidnapping of a Suhareka resident.

The responsibility for media communication in Special Prosecutor Syle Hoxha confirmed that the prosecutor of this case will be at the tribunal on January 9th, until he said they would not have any official information on the escape of the accused.

So far, Hoxha has said there has been no request for this case to be forwarded to The Hague Specialised Prosecutor.

In knowledge of developments about Shala, there are also specialised Prosecution.

The Specialised Prosecutor's Office is aware that individuals in Kosovo or lawyers who speak on their behalf have reported to the media that they, or their clients, have accepted leaflets. The SPS is also familiar with reports in Kosovo media concerning Mr. Shala. However, the Specialised Prosecutor's Office does not comment on the status of its investigation”, Chriss Bennett, spokesman for the Specialised Prosecutor's Office, said.

Bennett has also recalled the consequences of refusing co-operation, regulated by the Specialised Chambers and Special Prosecutor's Law, which envisions fines and even imprisonments, as long as she refuses to testify.

Answer concerning Shala's case, KTV has also tried to get from the lawyer representing him in the case of war crimes accused, Kosovo Police and Mission EULEX in Kosovo.

The EUELX mission has said questions should be addressed to the Specialised Prosecutor, adding that the mission helps Specialised Chambers and Specialised Prosecutor with logistical and operational support.
