Scary: Dangerous Asteroid Nears Earth

A potentially dangerous asteroid just passed by Earth. Along with its satellite, this is the first of relatively large proportions to approach our planet in the beginning of this year. It is over 400m in diameter, and it approached a distance of 15 million miles [ 4.5 million km]. It was discovered by the Arecibo radio telescope, which is positioned in Porto Rico.

This asteroid was discovered by NASA's space telescope of 2016 and kept under constant scrutiny by scientists during its journey and approach to Earth, writes the KP.

Astrophysicists believe that only 15% of these celestial bodies also have satellites, and in this case, its moon was orbiting about 400 meters [400 m] away from its mother asteroid. Studies also follow in order to cope with such cases when it must be diverted with human intervention by such double bodies approaching the Earth and potentially dangerous to the impact.
