The Kosovo government is continuing to give up the firm tax on products coming from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, despite international pressure to remove this trade measure. During yesterday's day, Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj and Parliament Speaker Kadri Wessel held a meeting with US Ambassador to Kosovo Philip Costet to discuss just about the tax. But neither after the meeting called by Chief Parliamentary Veselin the Government of Kosovo changed its stance about the tax.
On the contrary, Prime Minister Haradinaj said the tariff to Serbian products will continue to remain in force until an agreement on the recognition of Kosovo is reached by Serbia. On the other hand, the US has already demanded that this move, set by Kosovo institutions, be suspended immediately.
In view of these, connoisseurs of political issues estimate that the Government should soon find an alternative to suspend the tax for a certain period. If Serbia does not meet the required criteria for recognition, then the Government of Kosovo would, according to them, be able to bring the 100 per cent fee back into force.
