The Peja and Gjakova municipality have issued orders that prohibit animal murder and mistreatment, including dog racing.
The penalty for those who violate this ordinance will be fines of up to 5,000 euros.
In the ordinance signed by the head of the Peja municipality, Gazmend Mujajeri, it is said among other things that the Directorate for Inspectation will monitor the implementation of this ordinance.
This ordinance forbids murder, mistreatment, experimentation of animals without license, surgical surgery with the aim of modifying the appearance of the animal with which it leaves or is damaged any part of the group, the import and sale of aggressive animals contrary to the provisions of the Law, the transport of untalented animals, the trading of animals contrary to legal provisions, the organisation of races in which the animal's power or speed is tested, with which the animal can suffer pain, injury, or death<1x>, among other decisions.
A day later, similar decisions have been made by the municipality of Gjakova.
“All animal racing arrangements in the Gjakova municipality are prohibited in which the speed or power of the animal between them where (the animal) may suffer pain, injury or death” are said to be in the decision of the Gjakova municipality, which was signed by Chairman Ardian Gjini.
These decisions are based on Article 17 of the Animal Care Law, in which this phenomenon is also forbidden.
Otherwise, recently in the group “united for animals” has been reported for dog racing phenomena. Kosovo has contacted police and relevant municipalities for such cases and has reported on this phenomenon.
So far, the warrant for halting animal murder and mistreatment has also taken over the municipalities of Rahovec and Vushtrri.
