Opposition in Macedonia Seeks Election After Name Change

“Zoran Zaev renamed his homeland prematurely based on an agreement that has not yet entered into force. This is embarrassing! Macedonia today does not celebrate because it was sold, violated and destroyed. V The MRO-DPMNE will do everything in its power to regulate this injustice” in the future, Mickoski has declared, warning that on Monday it will apply for early parliamentary elections, in which, as he said, “Zaev will receive the people-deserved punishment for the chapterative decision”.
Zaev reacted by saying that his party's organs, the LSDM, will consider the opposition's request, even though Mickovski, according to him, demands elections, “but prays that this is not accepted”.
Friday evening, Macedonia's Assembly approved by 81 votes “pro” constitutional changes to implementation of the agreement with Greece on resolving the 27-year name dispute. The achieved deal enables its membership in NATO, dubbed Northern Macedonia, as well as the launch of EU membership talks June of this year.
The contract between the two countries dates back to 1991, when Macedonia had declared independence, while Greece had blocked its integration into NATO and the EU. /Top Channel/
