Twenty-five thousand civil servants in Kosovo warn that Monday they will enter the strike. They estimate that they are not treated properly in the law for wages and require their leveling.
Following the education and health system, the strike is expected to join another 25 thousand civil servants and Kosovo public administration.
Mursel Zymberi from the Civil Service Union said that if no written decision is sent to them by Monday to meet their demands by the government will go on strike.
“All municipalities are categories that we will go on strike. If our demands for salary levels are not met, then we are forced to go on strike. We as unions cannot stop”, said Mursel Zymber.
The strike will also join public administration employees, union chairman Ndue Kalen announced. Apart from wage leveling, they also demand tou be recognised work stages.
We've been completely ignored, we're seeing that the only way to achieve the demands, just as other categories are doing, are strikes. Even though we don't prefer these” measures, Ndue Kale said.
For the meeting held with National Coordinator for State Reform Besnik Tahiri, the heads of the Union of other municipalities had also arrived. Mehmet Bajrami from the Mitrovica municipality and Ramadan Kutlovci from the municipality of Vushtrri say they support the decision to enter the strike.
“Of course we will go on strike unless these requests are met”, Mehmet Bajrami said.
“If civil servants don't enjoy the right as other workers, be convinced that from Monday we are on strike”, Ramadan Kutlovci said.
The strike will also be supported by civil servants at the ministry. The chairman of the Workers' Union at the Ministry of Environment Ali Sefaj said they would not issue until their demands are met.
Our goal is not to pressure, but to suggest that civil servants deserve dignified treatment, dignified life, better pay, because we are the state and without us the state doesn't function”, Ali Sefaj said.
Until social discontent has been added to Kosovo, the government warns that the new wage bill will be voted in the Assembly over the next week.
