The mayor of the Polish town, Gdansk, Pawell Adamwickz, has died after being stabbed while participating in a charity concert.
Adamowicz has been in critical condition for hours after the attack on him, already died Monday on January 14th, health officials said.
In the January 13th attack, Adamowicz suffered a serious heart injury and a cut in his diaphragm and abdomen organs, according to surgeons who operated it over five hours.
A video showed the man picking up a microphone in the charity event and claiming that he had been imprisoned and unjustly tortured by the former centre-left government.
Adamowicz has been mayor of the town of Baltic port for two decades, and the centre-left civic platform supported his re-election last year. (REL)
