The king had officially announced the Malaysian rulers for his execution through a letter sent to the Secretary of the Conference of Leaders, a royal family director said in a statement.
Sultan Muhammad V has expressed his gratitude to local rulers, who chose him as 15th King Yang Di-Pertwan Agong on December 13th 2016.
He also expressed his appreciation to Malaysia's Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad and the government for their co-operation in governing the country.
“During his stay as Yang Di-Pertoan Agong, His Majesty worked to fulfill his responsibilities and firm trust as head of state, serving as the pillar of stability, the source of justice and as an umbrella of solidarity and unity to people”, said Wan Ahmad Dahlan.
He said Sultan Muhammad V, as the supreme commander of Malaysia's Armed Forces, was proud of the sacrifices and dedication shown to him and the country over the years.
The 49-year-old monarch recently married the former beauty queen, 25-year-old Oksana Voevodina, who held the Miss Moscow title in 2015.
The media published wedding photos held in the Moscow suburb on 22 November, held according to local rites and Islam, lacking alcohol.
There is no official explanation for the reasons for the resignation.
