Kosovo has opened the wallet for potential indictees of the Special Court. To that end, about half a million euros of the state budget have been spent over the past year alone, writes “Koha Ditore” today.
Information has been confirmed to <x0 Ditore” by the Ministry of Justice.
“For the Juridical Protection Programme and the Financial Support of the Prescribed Individuals by Specialised Chambers, with Law No. 06/L-020 for the Kosovo Republic budget for 2018, in the 020 Transfer and Subvention category, 1,500,000 euros have been approved. This planned amount in 2018 has been spent 466,309,41 euros on implementing the Government's decision and taking legal advice on the form of addressing Kosovo's Republic's obligations to the Special Chambers and Special Prosecutor's Office”, the ministry said in a written response to the newspaper.
When Kosovo had formed the Special, it also adopted a law in which it emphasises that its provisions apply to each person who is accused of alleged crimes in court processes near the Special Chambers, including the judicial protection of accused persons and the financial support of their family's close members for the trips linked to judicial procedures, held outside Kosovo.
