He has made it known about Periscopi himself the chairman of the SBASK, Nundman Jasharaj, who has said that every day they are analyzing the demands of educational workers. He has not ruled out the possibility of a protest if required by the teachers.
If employees in the educational system want to go on protest, we will carefully analyze this and act according to their voice”, Jasharaj said.
Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj has recently appealed to teachers to return to schools, while also said hours lost during the strike would be compensated for the summer.
Asked whether they will comply with the government's request, Jasharaj has said that for compensation of lost hours the education workers themselves decide.
It's early to talk about it because the strike is continuing. Kosovo's strike law does not force strikers to compensate for lost hours and days. So whether the hours and lost days will be compensated for remains to decide for themselves the education workers”, Jasharaj said of Periscopi.
Regarding several schools and teachers who have interrupted the strike, Jasharaj has said they reconfirm their will, and has confirmed that almost all educational institutions in Kosovo are on strike.
“We respect the will and attitude of individuals, but when a school or just one individual is out of the strike that doesn't mean anything. In Kosovo nearly 100 % of the educational is on strike, and this shows the excellent determination and unity of SBASK membership and commends them for this”, Jasharaj has declared.
The general strike in education came as a result of the frustration of teachers over the salary cofficiency. As long as they demand that the wage cofficiency increase by 30 per cent, the government has offered an increase of only 0.20 per cent.
The SBASK has not accepted this offer, and as a result, they have not yet withdrawn from the strike. /Periscopi/
