It's been eight days since the United Education Union went on strike. This strike, which has included all educational institutions, is continuing despite the Kosovo government's salary hike. Yet, despite that, the SBASK is claiming to be unique and that their strike will continue until the full fulfillment of their demands,
Meanwhile, the government's first statements -- Ramush Haradinaj -- for the compensation of lost hours -- the United Education Union is viewing them as high tones, and that, for that, it cannot be decided now.
Anyone's “Declarations for hours compensation cannot be decided now. Institutions should engage with us for a genuine dialogue and not high tones. We have to cut tensions and talk together and find a choice as quickly as possible because even with the Greece Law around the world, but also in Kosovo, lost days are not compensated. However, they will be discussed later and will decide for themselves whether those hours will be replaced. It depends entirely on them” said the SBASK chairman, Nundman Jasharaj.
While, in terms of continuing the strike, Jasharaj said SBASKU does not decide how long it will last. He added that they have also given Government deadlines for this, but that according to him, it has not been taken seriously by domestic institutions.
“The SBASK does not decide how long the strike will last because we have mentioned it every time from May until now, giving space to dialogue, government and other institutions, but they have not reflected and understood our commitment correctly. We even had a protest on December 28th, even sending the last alarm before the January 14th strike. Institutions have had enough time to deal with these issues“he said. According to him, the pressures being put on the SBASK for disruption of the strike are not important, as he said the union is united in this direction.
The efforts of several DKAs and several municipalities to pressure and try to break the strike are always running dry because the strike is always unique because teachers and educational workers have announced it on their own, and only those” can close it down. We remember today that the first executive has warned that all the lost hours, as a result of the teacher strike, will be compensated. Among other things, he repeated, the law on wages said it would be passed by the 31st of this month.
One thing I guarantee you all, no lost hour will fail. Better to return now than to lose wine, covering the hours they lose today. Thus, they must return that growth is respectable, it is the greatest growth anyone could ever make”, Haradinaj said. Otherwise, SBASK has been on strike since January 14th of this year. /blic
