Former Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias, during an interview with Greek media, has said Bushat's departure is linked to his stance against changing Kosovo-Serbia borders.
“Ditmir Bushati, in my opinion, did not leave the cabinet because he stayed long at the helm of diplomacy, but because he had another view of the Kosovo issue. In short, it opposed changing the border between Kosovo and Serbia”, Kotzias said, broadcast “Oranews”.
Kotzias, among other things, has praised Bushat's role in the dialogue between Tirana and Athens for the maritime pact. But during the interview adds that regardless of who sits in the minister's chair, Greece seeks to hold good reports with Albania.
“Bushat was a very courageous and decisive minister, and one of the most serious to have negotiated with Greece. Bushat has played an important role in negotiations with the Greek state. I mean, here we had the deal package closed, but we had two problems: The first Albania did not have the Constitutional Court. Second problem. Greeks are unwilling to legally accept that the fight between Albania and Greece has already ended”, he said further.
President Ilir Meta is also exploiting all the time available to decree Ditmir Bushat's dismissal and the appointment of his deputy Gent Caka.
