Funny: Men win all prices for gender equality in Arabia

The United Arab Emirates authorities have become the object of ridicule and criticism after it was realized that all the winners of gender equality awards in the workplace are men.

Certificates and medals for these achievements were distributed by Sheik Mohammed bin Rasid al-Maktoum, who is vice president of the United Arab Emirates and the mayor of Dubai. Prices were awarded for the best government institution for gender equality, the best federal authority for gender equality and the best initiative for gender equality.

The winning institutions of these awards were the finance ministry, the federal authority of competition and statistics, and the ministry of human resources. However, what was mostly noted was the lack of representation of women at the ceremony.

Interior Minister Saif bin Zayed al-Nahyan was declared the most outstanding personality for supporting gender equality because of offering birth leave to women serving in the military. Internet users have mocked this organization. Someone wrote: “you really increased diversity. One of the men is dressed in fine clothes and is being spotted by others who are wearing white clothes”, writes the “The Guardian.
