Leaders have discussed the current state of the country, in particular for KFOR's mission to secure environment and safe movement for all Kosovo citizens, under Resolution 1244.
During the visit, Admiral Foggo has also discussed the issue of transforming the Kosovo Security Force.
Foggo has recalled Thaci and Haradinaj that the Secretary General and the North Atlantic Council has repeatedly said that any change in the KSF mandate means that NATO should review its level of engagement with the KSF.
This job is currently under way in Brussels.
Foggo said he expects the KSF transition to be progressive, transparent and inclusive and to be well co-ordinated with NATO and the international community. He added the need for KSF's activities to abide by restrictions imposed by Thaci in 2013, where he declared the KSF would not operate in northern Kosovo without reconciliation with KFOR.
Foggo underlined that all interested parties understand that the Special Unit of the Kosovo Police are not part of the KSF and that institutions in Kosovo should demonstrate the change. Finally, when KFOR approaches the 20, Foggo anniversary, KFOR aims to honour those NATO workers who gave their lives in support of a safe environment.
Foggo commanders NATO.
NATO remains committed through KFOR for a safe and secure environment in Kosovo and for stability in the Western Balkans.
