The first reaction coming from the Government of Kosovo, following Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj's offer of 20m euros a year for teachers, on the part of the United Education Union.
SBASKU has announced on Sunday evening that the strike in education will continue.
Through a media communiqué, the SBASKúu has said that Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj's offer “does not meet demands”.
Kosovo Deputy Foreign Minister Anton Berisha has reacted immediately to this decision.
He has asked the SBASK to avoid rushing into strikes without consulting teachers.
“The SBASK would be fine, before you refuse to offer to raise salaries, consult with teachers and parents”, Berisha wrote on Facebook.
To make a decision by the name of 27,000 educators and hundreds of thousands of students, there must be a serious and well-evaluated consultation”, he has estimated.
The word is for the process, the product of which is the knowledge of our children”, Berisha said.
After the teachers' strike, the government has decided to raise salaries for educators for 20m euros annually.
Prime Minister Haradinaj has said that the increase will take place from 534 euros to 597 for middle school teachers, from 479 to 525 for those in primary education and from 447 to 501 to those at the pre-school level.
