Visa liberalisation, completion of Kosovo- Serbia and new jobs are some of the expectations citizens have for the year we've just entered.

The free movement that citizens have been promised for years has continued to remain as one of the main demands citizens have for Kosovo institutions. They even hope that liberalisation will take place within this year, despite EU Commissioner Johannes Hahn, he had declared that free movement could take place in 2020.

Ramadan Blace from Pristina has voiced confidence that 2019 will be the year when visa liberalisation occurs.

But there are others who say the free movement for Kosovars will not happen once. One of them is Besart Sylejmani from Fushe Kosova, who says liberalisation is only promise that will not be realised.

One of the citizens' wishes for Osman Vitita for 2019 is the conclusion of Kosovo-Serbia dialogue with a legally binding agreement for both countries.

He also expects 2019 to bring more economic development and realisation of projects opening up new jobs.

“I am hoping to complete these Kosovo-Serbia negotiations and to solve once and for all this problem that is conditioning Kosovo with European and global integrations. To become a solution, constitutional solution is understood, not sale and sale and loss of territory. Then, visa liberalisation takes place as soon as possible, to have an improvement in the social situation of citizens, to have greater economic development”, he said, Ksp reported.

Meanwhile, Zyhrije Sylejmani expects more jobs to be created this year for Kosovo youth.

We're waiting for something better for young people, employment. Not just promises and nowhere is good. Promises in 2016, 2017, 2018, now we're waiting for something, it gets better. The rock gets well and keeps those promises that are being spoken to”, she said.

But there are also citizens who express disappointment at the leaders of Kosovo institutions. One of them is Ceatin Fazliu, who says that until the entire current political class is changed, nothing good will happen to Kosovo.

What we have to wait for, if this leader is changed is going to be okay, if it's not changed it's going to be even black”, he said.

Despite the year we left behind has been named as a year when visa liberalisation will occur for Kosovo citizens, this has not happened. As a result, this desire of citizens for free movement has been conveyed for this year.
