A Chinese spacecraft is expected to become the first flying object to be launched at an extreme part of the moon. This mission is regarded as a major step towards researching the Earth's natural satellite. It is designed to launch this device at the southern pole, where the oldest, largest, and deepest moon crater is located.
The robotic ship made an elyptical flight around the moon over the weekend and approached its surface at a distance of 15 miles [15 km]. Chinese authorities have not confirmed the exact time of its launch, but state media have reported that this operation will be conducted in the early hours Thursday.
This spaceship has taken pictures of the moon before, but no device has been released on that part of the surface. If the mission succeeds, it would mark a major step towards fulfilling China's ambitions to become the power of space research, along with the United States and Russia.
A technological obstacle to this mission is that direct communication with this space shuttle from Earth is impossible. However, commands and signals are being sent with the help of an artificial satellite located on the other side of the moon, writes the Guardian”. /Periscopi
