One of Germany's federal regions, Baden-Wuertberg, is seeking damages from the car manufacturing company, “Volkswagen”, after local authorities had bought oil cars from this producer. These cars can now be stopped for circulation in different cities, like Stuttgart.
The value of oil cars fell largely after environmental protection groups won a victory in court last year. Under the court's ruling, the designated cities had to consider stopping the flow of old oil cars in order to meet the criteria of the European Union for fresh air.
On the other hand, the car company has not confirmed the condemnation of the sentence, but has stated that previous court rulings have proved that the company is not obliged to pay fines because cars have had currency certificates at the time they were sold.
According to the newspaper “FAZ”, institutions had bought cars from “Volkswagen” for police, but the way of money lost has not been explained. Unlike the United States, Germany has allowed the circulation of the oldest cars in this company, as they agreed to modify car emissions systems, writes “Reuters”,
