Mitrovica Mayor Agim Bahtiri, in the presence of municipal directors today, has held the media-called conference about the initial petition for uniting the town of Mitrovica. The purpose of this conference was to inform citizens and institutions more of the actions that have been taken and with the organisation of signing the petition for change-completed law No. 03 L-041 for the Administration Borders of the Communists.
In his speech, the mayor of the municipality, Agim Bahtiri, said that the petition for the union of Mitrovica, in just 7 days has managed to collect about 16, 594 citizens' signatures from all nationalities, with which Kosovo's Assembly requires the same to proceed further, for approval, with the aim of uniting the Mitrovica municipality, but not violating in any way the territorial integrity of the Republic of Kosovo.
“As stated earlier, since a new reality has been created in northern Mitrovica, as well as that from the northern part of the city of Mitrovica, over 15 thousand Albanians, the vast majority of whom, to this day, have not been able to return to their property, with the cerces brutally violated basic rights, and that with all efforts made for the full stabilisation of the situation in the town of Mitrovica, and especially in the northern part, even though the security situation has been achieved, the governing structures in the north have not been in service, and that citizens have not taken measures for the functioning of the state and the implementation of the state of Kosovo, Baharik said.
So Mayor Bahtiri said the petition would be sent Wednesday to the three institutions of Kosovo, to Government, Parliament, as well as to the president, with what occasion I ask the Kosovo government to approve this initiative undertaken by Mitrovica citizens for the unity of the city. /Periscopi
