In July of this year, five members of the Sadiki family, from Sopia in Suhareka, have lost their lives in a traffic accident.

This same year, four members of the Shala family lost their lives as a result of the accident. In addition to these two serious cases, the streets of Kosovo in 2018 took the lives of more than 85 people.

Although the year 2017 compared with the slight decline in accidents, a total of 14,000 and 393 accidents have occurred according to police statistics in Kosovo's territory within this period of the year.

The leading cause of such accidents is emerging as a human factor and not to adapt to the rules of communication.

Kosovo Police spokesman Baki Kelani for KosovaPress has declared that for 10.80 per cent, there is a decrease in all categories of road accidents, compared to the same period in the preceding year.

“Based on the figures we possess as the Kosovo Police could say that the fatal fallout from January to November of this year has marked a 20.56 per cent drop, which means from 107 people who lost their lives last year's period in this period of time has 85 or said 22 fewer persons have lost their lives... As for injuries we have a reduction of 1.96 per cent of material damage to 15.73 per cent or total, said that as total accidents have dropped by about 10.80%%%%%%%)

According to Kelan, the reduction has also affected the operational plans Kosovo Police have drafted and implemented this year as the pronunciation of fines for less responsible drivers, the use of the dron, the use of civilian vehicles, the deployment of police patrols to the most sensitive points, and so on.

As the main cause of accidents in the country, it is considered to be overpassing speed, bypassing and using telephones.

And the municipality of Pristina leads for the largest number of accidents in the country, but in out-of-town urban areas, the largest number of fatalities have been recorded.

“The contributing factors that contribute to the increase in accidents may say that they are largely out of adapting to road speed, or climate conditions... 12;16 According to the law on road communication, which mainly overpassing speed is affecting fatal accidents, not keeping distance, and not adapting to road driving, or climate conditions... Based on the finding or resulting from these tests that mainly occur in more accidents at the beginning of the week, so on Monday and at the end of the week, where people are mainly preparing for the weekend...

Kosovo Police spokesman has declared that between January and November for violators of communications regulations have pronounced about 372 thousand and 333 fines, or said 0.1% higher than last year.

And in the Ministry of Infrastructure, they say that in order to provide greater security in traffic, they have worked fully on road infrastructure.

Minister of Infrastructure, Pal Lekaj in an interview for Kosova Preiss has stated that in 2018 they formed the task force, as well as the interministerial commission in order to come up with recommendations that will have a positive impact on road safety.

Lekaj said that with the aim of better road management, he has signed agreements with Hungarians.

“I've just signed an agreement with the Hungarians on the intelligent transport system (IDS), and I think this will affect the best management of all roads in Kosovo and will significantly impact the safety of citizens in traffic and what we've had in television programs that we have had so little impact on our drivers to respect the signs, and what I can say we've been able to have a better signal of better street enlightenment “, he added.

But experts say that the human factor is also emerging as a major cause of accidents in our country.

Visar Bajzak, a road communications engineer, says that in order to reduce accidents in the country, responsible institutions must seriously deal with the state of actions and inactions leading to accidents.

According to him, there are shortcomings in the setting of signal signs, but there are also a lack of them because of burglary.

Wrong practices have considered imitating methods of preventing accidents from other countries, since they differ depending on the management.

The “should initially become a map of Kosovo-level accidents, to find the most endangered countries, to find the level of exposure to the risk of causing accidents, and then to begin to analyze those countries that are characterized by a large number of accidents, which are causes, whether it's the problem of the road, is it the problem of leadership up to the age of the drivers causing these accidents? The measures then have to be in relation to findings, not to take measures without concrete analysis...0541 the biggest mistake is that models from other countries are copied and those other countries have other characteristics in terms of both the population and the management”, Bajuku added.

In contrast, in 2017 there were a total of 16 thousand and 122 accidents on the streets of Kosovo, 119 people lost their lives until less fines were pronounced than in 2018. /B. Ibishi/
