The year 2019, a chance for Trepca's recovery

Authorities in Kosovo say 2019 will be the year when it begins with the development and recovery of the company “Trepca”.

Minister of Economic Development in the Government of Kosovo Valdrin Luka says that “Trepca” during 2018 has faced numerous challenges. According to him, some of the issues that have begun to be resolved are expected to be finalised this year.

In 2019 we expect that in the first three months, there will be a record of Shrepca as a stock society and employment management. Then in the second quarter, we also have the verification of the reserves as we know how many there are, but they're in the 1970s, so we need it so that foreign investors know exactly what reserves there are. Then in the course of the year, it will be worked on promoting ʹTrepaça and a plan to inform private capital in the development of ʹTrepca in the increased processing capacity, export growth, and possibly to have in the future the internal processing of those minerals, as this requires knowledge and considerable investment that should be made”, says Lupa.
