23 workers died last year at their workplace.
17 years old is the youngest worker to have died with a 71-year-old. Insander published the list with the names of dead workers' surnames and companies they worked on.
On December 1st in Dean, a person passed away while he was working. The victim had lost consciousness while working and fell down on the street.
The same has been sent to the regional hospital, and from the medical team it has been found that there are no signs of life.
A few days before him, Shefqet Fetah from the village of Raushiq of Peja lost her life a few days ago after she had an accident at the workplace.
Fetahaj worked at a concrete company, where he lost his hand on one of the machines he was cleaning up. After a few days in a coma, December 6th, he died at QKUK.
All cases of deaths have occurred in the private sector.
The Private Sector Union has presented it in 2018 as the year with mostly cases of job deaths.
This year's “has had 23 cases of job deaths. Unfortunately, it's a record number”, private Sector Union head Yusuf Azemi said.
According to the Kosovo Tax Administration data, 85 thousand and 566 active businesses in the private sector.
But currently in Kosovo there are 43 inspectors who manage to do about 189 inspections per year.
The Labour Ministry had warned that by the end of the year three inspectors would be added. Another 15 are expected to be employed in 2019.
The newspaper Insider has sought access to the Inspectorate's decisions on punishing companies, the amount of penalties related to rights violations, and the safety of workers at work for the past three years.
The inspector has offered no tea in these documents. In the Ministry of Labour, however, they have stated that these documents are available only in inspectors.
Inspectorate had suspended operations at 11 companies
In November of this year, the Labour Ministry had announced that the Inspectorate for two weeks in the Pristina municipality has inspected 160 workshops.
During the inspection, they had pronounced 14 fines, for those subjects who had not implemented decisions by earlier inspections. For this, works had been suspended with the extent of the temporary suspension of 11 subjects.
The Labour Inspectorate had made a special report in 2017 on inspections in the construction sector.
According to the report, the Inspectorate has conducted 1,147 inspections, 66 fines, 344 remarks, as well as legalised 245 workers who have been working without labour contracts and equipped with them following the pronunciation of remarks on their employers.
