Several suspected militants have attacked a luxury hotel in Kenya's capital, Nairobi, leaving at least 15 people dead.
The building, located in the Westlands district, was attacked Tuesday by several armed men.
By late hours of the evening, officials have said the siege has ended, but shootings and explosions have been heard during Wednesday day.
The Somalia-based militant group al-Shabab said it was behind the attack.
Police sources have said that at least 15 people have been killed, but that number has not yet been confirmed by the government.
Some civilians are reportedly still trapped in the building, and others have texted their families while hiding.
According to the U.S. State Department, an American is among the dead.
Kenya has faced a series of terrorist attacks in recent years, especially in areas close to the Somalia border. /rel
