Kosovo Post Union of Workers Chairman Etri Hoti, in an interview for Telegrafi, has said that workers of this public company are in a difficult position because of not receiving salaries.
He has indicated that the delays in paying salaries to about 1,000 people employed in the Post have been making their social situation worse since month-on-month.
“Post workers are on general strike because it is September 10th, and workers have not received their salaries even for August. The requirements are to provide salaries for all workers and not have such delays”, Hoti said.
According to him, the Government and other Kosovo institutions should think of long-term solutions for the Post.
The problem is that we have no alternative on the table and no one has offered solutions to get out of this situation.
“As unions we have started with the general strike, further steps will be protests before the Government until the implementation of workers' demands”, said Etri Hoti chairman of the Post Workers Union.
According to him, the Post should be given more services, since it will improve its financial situation.
Technological developments have caused postal services to drop. Currently the Kosovo Post, besides courts, did not perform a single service for other institutions. Posta must have this treatment to receive all state services with capital requirements establishing the Bank's Post. For its establishment, a will is needed by the” institutions.
Not receiving salaries and the start of the new school year has made the workers' situation worse.
“Post workers are in a state of emergency, are family holders and is the start of the new school year, and no one has been able to buy children needed school materials. Also, most are on credit and are late for payment of loan installments. Delay has brought interest and increase. In one word the Kosovo Post workers are social cases”, Kosovo Post Union Chairman Etri Hoti said.
