An extremely destructive typhoon struck the northern Philippines, taking 14 lives. Among the victims are members of rescue teams that were searching for residents trapped under a mass of soil. Official records speak of serious damage.
On Luzoni Island, each building has suffered damage during the passing of the typhoon “Mangkh”, which has already turned to China with winds of up to 185 km per hour.
Four million people have been affected by the effects of the storm. Thousands have been evacuated after warnings that the flood level could reach up to 20 feet [6 m].
In the Philippines, storms can cause catastrophic consequences, but authorities say the safeguard clauses have improved since 2013, when more than 7,000 people died during a typhoon crossing.
