US President Donald Trump wanted his Syrian counterpart, Bashar al-Assad, dead during the past year, but his defence secretary ignored the request
This is what is revealed by a new book, which describes his superior helpers as ever negligent to his instructions, to limit what they considered to be the destructive and dangerous behavior of the White House chief.
Parts of the book, entitled “Frika”, written by the famous “mayergate”, Bob Woodward, were published this Tuesday by “The book, which has not yet been published, is the last to detail tensions within the White House under the 20-month presidency of Trump.
It portrays Trump as prone to profanous outbursts and impulsive decision-making, bringing a panorama of chaos that Woodward says constitutes a “rruish state administration” and a nervous “ ” of the executive.
According to the book Trump told Defence Secretary Jim Mattis that he wanted to kill Assad after the Syrian president launched a chemical assault on civilians in April 2017.
Mattis had replied to Trump that “would personally take care of this”, but in the meantime drafted the plan for a limited air strike that did not threaten Assad at all. According to the book, Mattis had even told his assistants after another incident that Trump had acted as a schoolboy.
The White House has not responded to a request for comment on this subject or other aspects of the book's passages, while the Pentagon refused to comment.
Woodward, who gained national fame after reporting the scandal “vs. <x2x1> in the years é70s, spoke to the president's top assistant to write the book, provided he didn't find out how he obtained the information, further emphasizes “
Among other findings in the book is the fact that other helpers have offended Trump behind his back. Chief of staff, John Kelly called it “idiot” and once said we were in a crazy town... That's the worst job I've ever been charged with:”
According to the book Trump has treated his principal assistants with contempt, while being avenged of Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross for losing his faith, or calling himself U.S. Chief Prosecutor Jeff Sessions “mentally delayed”.
