Tirana, one of the three most transformed cities in 2018

Finalists' candidates to seize the 2018 Transforming Action Award were discovered at the U Festival RBACT, held in Lisbon, Portugal, where the Albanian capital was ranked between Bologna and Gent.
The Price I Gives CLEI ) Local Governments for Stability, Bask Region and Aalboorg (Denmark) reward the ongoing or finished transformation works in socio-cultural categories, socio-economic and technological transformation.
Three cities were selected from a hard race of 40 applications: Tirana (Albania), for increasing green urban space around the city, fighting urban alignment; The city of Bologna (Italy) for the agreement on co-operation with their citizens, to increase civic engagement and regeneration of urban centres; as well as the city of Gent (Belgium) for transforming the local food system of the city through models of government participation.
Praising the shortlisted candidates, Hakan Lucianus, a member of the jury and chief of the Civil Society Division, at the European Investment Bank, said: “representing Europe's geographical diversity, these three cities managed to address different components of sustainable development, particularly social inclusion, urban development and food, including significantly all interested parties. Their innovative actions are the main challenges to our common future and should be inspiring to all actors committed to sustainability”.
