Former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo, currently director of the Millennium Fund Petrit Selimi, has held a debate with Daniel Serwer énouncing Balkan affairs about the idea of correcting borders between Kosovo and Serbia, which Kosovo President Hashim Thaci and Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vuqic are promoting.
Petrit Selimi has distributed an article yesterday in the British newspaper “The Guardian” of 2016, discussing the agreement reached between Belgium and the Netherlands on border correction. The model on which President Thaci had said Kosovo and Serbia could be based.
Selimi's post has reacted to Serwer asking him this way:” What about the expression “
In this Selimi answers: “advancement is important. Correct in mutual reconciliation”.
Serwer continues with his comment: “No one suspects that sovereign states can exchange territory, or even simply give it, provided they meet local legal requirements. The real question involves wisdom, not legitimacy. The current circumstances within Kosovo, in the region, and more widely make this proposal undiscreet”, Serwer has said.
Selimi has responded, saying he fears it is not the time to “compromise wisdom. We've been told for 10 years to become wise, to wait, to turn the other face, to repentance, to resist provocations. Not to apply there, not to deploy the army here. Wait for a visa. A poor return for wisdom”, he wrote.
Serwer in this direction returns the comment to Selim, responding this way: “I never told you not to apply or form an army, or wait for a visa. I am telling you that this territorial exchange proposal will lead to mass movement of people and undermine and destroy the citizenship of Kosovo”, was Daniel Cerwer's response to Twitter. /Kosovo pres/
