Tensions are continuing to rise a year after the vote since Madrid was deemed illegal, but for the Catalonians it turned into a holiday.
Pro-independence groups have stayed in tents during Friday night to prevent anti-independence protests.
Catalonya authorities said 1,000 people were injured after police had attempted to stop voting at the polling stations a year ago.
For several hours, the pro-independence group has cheered “neither forgiveness nor forgetting” facing protests against calling as “Long-lived Spain” The weekend is expected to pass with protests warned to mark Catalon's independence vote last year.
